ECKHAUS LATTA | BACKSTAGE NYFW | SS 2015 | DAZEDDIGITAL

Hair by Ramona Eschbach

Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta, the talented young designers behind brand-on-the-rise Eckhaus Latta, avoided referencing any concrete concepts for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The design duo focused on textiles treated with rust and interesting cuts that fused creativity with wearability. Lead hairstylist Ramona Eschbach created two looks with rope braids—one down and one up—for the girls and a highly textured look for the guys to complement the clothes. “The hair was inspired by the texture of the clothes, so we wanted something rough and unfinished,” said Eschbach.

HOUGHTON | NEW YORK FASHION WEEK | RTW SPRING 2015 | WWD

Katharine Polk was feeling blue this spring; the color, in various shades, was all over her Houghton runway, from navy silk slipdresses to baby blue button-downs borrowed from the boys. As always, lace was an important element for the designer, and this season, she managed to make it look casual — think Chantilly lace skirts paired with boxy cotton tops. Her lineup included some other unexpected twists, like a glamorous bias-cut dress done in black and navy plaid.

For her Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Houghton designer Katharine Polk embraced masculine silhouettes in luxurious fabrics. “There are a lot of oversized boyfriend-inspired separates,” said lead hairstylist Adam Markarian.

“Katharine imagined a girl borrowing her guy’s clothes after spending the night, so the hair and makeup reflect that.” Markarian created a clean center part and sleek, flatironed hair to complement the clothes. “This season it’s all about soft, shiny, super luxurious hair for Houghton.”

Get the Look:
1. Spray Foundation Mist and Royal Blowout into dry hair. Work the product through with a Mason Pearson brush and blow-dry the hair straight.
2. Flatiron the ends and tuck the hair behind the ears.
3. Finish the look with Soft Dry Conditioner Spray and Gold Lust for high shine.

KAELEN | New York Fashion Week | Spring/Summer 2015

Lead Hair Stylist: Amy Friadd for Kate Ryan Inc.

For Kaelen’s tropical-inspired Spring/Summer 2015 collection, hairstylist Amy Farid created a clean and innocent look from the ‘70s with a nod to hair icon Marcia Brady. “We wanted that freshly washed, really brushed hair,” explained Farid. “Like how Marcia Brady would brush her hair 100 times before bed.” Farid also made sure to keep the models’ hair tucked behind their ears. Before the presentation, the hair framing the model’s face would show off a natural bend around the cheekbone. Some models also wore a hair clip with fresh orchids on it.

Get the Look:
1. Create a center part and prep the hair with Foundation Mist. Layer on Volumista Mist for Volume and blow-dry the hair with a round brush, creating natural volume at the root. “Depending on the hair’s texture, we would add Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray and Supershine Moisturizing Cream,” noted Farid.
2. Tuck the hair behind the ears, so that over time the hair gets a natural bend around the cheekbone.
3. Brush the hair with a Mason Pearson brush for a super shiny look.

David Hart | Presented by Cadallic | Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

Hair by Kien Hoang

This season menswear designer David Hart took us to Palm Springs with his Spring/Summer 2015 collection. “The inspiration behind the prints is the natural landscape of Palm Springs,” said David. To compliment the colorful tailored clothes, lead hairstylist Kien Hoang created a relaxed yet polished look with lots of shine for the models. “When creating the hair, I imagined European guys on vacation,” said Kien. “They’re super stylish and I wanted the hair to reflect that, but it’s not overly done. It’s also relaxed and easy and quintessentially California.”

Get the Look:
1. the hair with Foundation Mist, which will serve as a cutting lotion. Clean up the hairline and trim sideburns into a square shape.
2. Apply Gel Sérum and shape the hair with your hands, encouraging natural wave and movement.
3. Blow-dry the hair away from the face. Apply Curl Gloss to enhance natural waves.
4. Finish the look with a generous mist of Shine Light Reflecting Spray for added luster.
