Umbrella stylists will explore the references used by Joey George to create the looks on you, adapt these trends into everyday styles behind the chair during the hands-on workshop and photo shoot ("Trade-For"). This is a hair styling class only (No Cut/No Color)

“Joey was born and raised in Dutch country Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He found his creative outlet at the age of four as a ballet dancer. He studied at The Rock School with the Pennsylvania Ballet Company and was ranked ‘Top 5 best male dancers’ by the Youth American Grand Prix in 2004.

In 2005, Joey moved to New York City and began school at the Aveda Institute in Soho to pursue a creative career in the beauty industry. After graduating and receiving a New York City Cosmetology License, he was hired as an apprentice at the Bumble and Bumble Salon. His mentors were Tom Gallagher, Christiaan, Michael Gordon, and Luigi Murenu.

Joey’s work has been credited in magazines such as Vogue, Vogue Italia, Numero, Marie Claire, Elle, CR Fashion Book, Vanity Fair, Interview and GQ. He has also worked with designers to develop brand advertising such as Tom Ford, Givenchy, Diane Von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, Armani, Zac Posen, and H&M.

In 2014, Joey went on a european tour of ‘ARTPOP’ with pop star Lady Gaga creating wigs, head pieces, and styling her hair day to day. He has also created hair styles for the promotion of ‘Cheek to Cheek’ a new jazz/punk album by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.

Most recently, Joey has signed a beauty contract with ORIBE Hair Care. He travels internationally as a brand ambassador and credits the company in magazines. ”
